Hi Looking for some advice basically brought an internet ticket (special fare nonrefundable non changeable) from paris to perth when i was unemployed thinking that i would probably be going home for good Since then i have started great job in the UK. Unfortunately i have been told that taking 4 weeks off in feb isn't practical for my job (2 weeks would be OK) and i am in no position to argue (ie i have no leave and can't afford 4 weeks non paid nor to lose the job) Has anyone had any experience with dealing with these types of fares and changing them (its with cathay pacific - spoken to UK sales desk and they have said that there is nothing i can do) ?? I brought fares on my credit card (i remember something about if that happens there is some thing you can do but i am not sure if i am remembering a "desperate dream") Can anyone off any advice or suggestions to try? What are the legalities on these things? Surely airlines can't give you NOTHING if you mess soemthing up? (not going home means missing my neices first birthday when i have already missed her christening (am her GOd mother too) - i will lose aunty status BIGTIME ... not to mention get some warmweather training in...could get another flight but will have to creditcard it - not something i am eager to do)... Cheers Em

See if you can change the return for two weeks after you fly out, and take the fortnight holiday.

You may need to pay admin charges plus any difference in fares but at least you won't lose the whole lot (I'm presuming there are no refunds, even so far in advance)
Worth calling them and pleading your case
