Dell have just launched a new service for Software problems. Get a PC Tune Up from them. (It does cost a fee though).
BB
P.S. Is there anyone who DOESN'T use an anti-virus than runs constantly in the background? I thought that's how they all worked.

Right I have got my new dell No no no no no!!!!!! There's your problem right there, that little badge with those evil blue letters are well known to cause all sorts of technical problems! Go and talk to Nelson PKs good lady about Dell!!! There could be all sorts of reasons for your problems, when you play and audio CD, the sound could be sent through the audio cable. Where as the DVD audio will be processed by the machine itself. CD burner could be all sorts of problems too, dodgy burner, lack of memory and 101 others.

could be something to do with the sound card configuration or drivers or something else software related. Audio CD and video DVD sound are both handled differently within the computer so it's not uncommon to have a problem with one and not the other. What about other audio, do all the usual windows sounds play correctly?
