OK in one month I work
14 days of 12 hours shifts and 5 five nine hour days which comes to 213hours per month, and 9 days off in a month.
My house mate works
18 days of 9 hours, and gets ten days off a month
But we get paid exactly the same amount and I'm not entitled to shift pay!
Any ideas of what I can do about this?

We work in the same place and started on the same day, but do different jobs!

We work in the same place and started on the same day, but do different jobs! It depends on the terms & conditions in your contract and what "rights" you have waived in that contract. Technically under the new working directive an employer cannot make you work for a period of less than 11 hours from the time that you left work. However, if you agreed to shift patterns you may find this doesn't apply to you. Also, if you have worked a certain pattern for a "reasonable" amount of time you could have waived your rights by an inferred acceptance of working conditions. Employment law if very hard to interpret on a consistent basis. Have you got a union rep you can talk to? Is the HR department approachable?

My bro-in-law earns about 3-4 times my money for half the hours, but then he's a company director and I'm a low life lorry driver.
Unfortunatly, sometimes by the time you've realised that you've taken the wrong career path you're too old to do anything about it.
Bitter?!! Me?!! Never!!
He get's to live with my sister and 3 kids, for that he deserves the extra money.
