How long do you think it would take to plateau, if you put in about 10 hours training a week.
Or, can you expect to improve for many seasons so long as you keep concentrating on training smart???

Hey, Schedboy, wondering why your karma is -26? Maybe its got something to do with posting triatherlon questions in a general forum.
Try something a little more less energetic and watch your karma soar!

To plateau is when you're seeing no more improvement in fitness from your training, all your doing is sustaining your current level. Finding yourself on a plateau is not because you've got used to the hours it's because you've got used to the stresses. You'd then need to think about what you do and make it harder to start the stress-repair-improve cycle again. It's a lot more to do with what you do with your hours than how many hours to do. When the other forum comes back on line have a read of the 'Box vs Base' thread.

That's a good question. If you optimised your training perfectly for the entire period I could see most people plateauing after a 2 or 3 year period. Of course, the chances of you training perfectly are pretty low, so if you kept working out what works well for you as you went (which would take some time) it might take more like 4 or 5 years.
