S is soooooooooo last February, the in thing now is the W.
On entry, catch the water and swiftly bring it down to your hip, then bring it back up, then down again, and then up for recovery.
This way you'll do fewer strokes per length. And by doing so, save energy. Trust me, all the Eskimo swimmers are using this technique.

Thats what its all about ! No, in-out-in-out-shake it all about from the hips. Do the hokey cokey and turn yourself around an imaginary line through your spine. That's what it's all about, no bath toys please.

You don't shake from the hips, you stir from the hips.

It's just a jump to the left And then a step to the right With your hands on your hips You bring your knees in tight But it's the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane

Swimming is all wrong. Think about a fish - it doesn't pull, it pushes. So, keep your arms by your side - they only cause drag. Then, keep your feet together and kick them together. Simple! Oh, and roll on your side and do it. It helps if you have a full bladder too.

So when I'm doing front crawl whats this S thing ? Arrrrrrrrh my faverite subject the S thing. It is without doubt the fastset and best way to swim fast front crawl. Do not listen to others who talk of total emersion heaters stroke systems or any of the others they just dont crack it in the S world of mine. Who needs fancy names and long words when its just a case of 1 hand in front of the other and kicking? Just how simple do you want it? Oh and just feel the curves on the S shape swim Do it . You know it makes sense

my god this is one of the funniest threads.
personally I use the twirly whirly which is just what it says on the tin. Enter the water and immediately flip over onto your back then rotate onto your front and as you do so apply a little kick from the knees and voila you go much further than with the S or W. You can twirly whirly your way down the pool with little efford.

I'd like to argue about the minutae of hand entry. Should I tuck the thumb into the center of my hand? Otherwise the knuckle gets caught...

Slide the middle finger in first, then the index, then work your way through So that's where all the Bodyglide goes. I've been rubbing in on my ankles, but there was no chance of getting my foot in there.

Yes, you need to use a waterproof computer. Surely the drag would be quite significant?

Yes, you need to use a waterproof computer. Surely the drag would be quite significant? Extra resistance - so it makes you work harder...
