I've only just read that Darren Day used to be a professional snooker player when he was 17.....for a hort while. Apparently he was signed up when a guy saw him knock in a 136. Then one night when Alex Higgins had to leave a tournament early (too drunk) DD did a few impersonations. Another talent spotter saw him do this and recommended he got into show business. Thats surely too good to be true but its from the horses mouth.

The bloke who presents the sports on the Sky News channel was supposedly a pretty decent rower in his day.
I think his name is Matthew Pinsent.

watching ben fogle do MdesSables, (and the rowing thingy) filled me with awe. When he about got caught by the broom wagon and looked down and out, he seemed to then turn into an athlete, and got stronger. feck knows where that came from. inspiration to anyone.
