so i should be able to copy this into my blog at a later date yes? training.. in contrast to last weeks lazy streak I've been pretty good this week.. Sunday i had a 7km orienteering race, felt good.. raced well apart from two controls which more or less ruined the result, finished 10th out of 80, which was good.. but disappointing as felt i could have been 3rd - soo, had Monday as a rest day.. then ran yesterday.. 5km, ran like a slug.. but more just because i couldn't be bothered than anything else.. today.. swam, was 3.5km i think..boring set but still.. 400m pull, 400m kick 8 x 50m free stroke count (35 strokes on all 8) 8 x 50m free stroke count off 60s (35,35,36,35,36,36,36,36) 4 x 100m free plus 15 (35,37) 8 x 50m free s.c (36,36,35,36,35,37,35,36) 4 x 150m free plus 20 (averaged about 36/37) 8 x 50m free s.c (average 38) 100m easy coach said he thought i could get my time down quite a bit further - was surprised how slow (relatively) my pb's were which was a good confidence boost as my swimming's been fairly useless recently.. am planning on starting the Monday session as well... then went to the spin class, which was amazing.. properly student class.. dimmed lights, disco colours.. club anthems with video's on the wall! and I've not worked so hard in ages.. as the instructor (young, cute, fit..blonde ) kept turning my resistance up... meh - had to sit in the changing room afterwards for 20 mins just to lose the purple colour my orienteering coach rang up last night as well an is meeting me for a run tomorrow night, with the promise of feeding me afterwards as well first time I'll have had tea this week!! i don't know how anyone manages uni on the student loan without working.. they must be eating paper or something.. or tesco's 8p instant noodles... mmmmm - e numbers anyway.. 3600 words in for Friday.. its going to be tight.. get well soon tritalk.. i miss my blog xx [edit] these things look longer when they're written in forum form.. hmmm

At least if I'm ever short of sleep I know where to come.
I went swimming today as well. I went up and down a bit and then left. See... the devil is in the detail!

Good stroke counts - is that in a 50m pool? If so even better as you're not getting the glide from push offs that you get in a 25m.
I keep a pretty good stroke count as long as I'm fresh, but as soon as I try to speed up or get knackered it seems to fade.

yep 50m pool, struggled on the 100's as i'd manage 35 on the way up, but after the tumble couldnt keep the same length up.. so was consistantly getting 35-37

Just clocked your location - you must be using the Wales National Pool. It's fantastic. I'm hoping to get a trip in down there sometime soon.
Swansea is a good crack - not had a night out there in a while but last time ended up in Jumping Jacks. Wind Street is nuts at Christamas time. Must be a good place to be a student.

blog 2ran last night, really enjoyed it with my coach, calves were pretty tight though, but putting that down to the pace being higher than normal... then she took me out for a meal first proper food in about 2 weeks - lol rest day today.. then 5km relay, first leg tomorrow and 8.2km 250m climb individual on sunday, both orienteering, both open moor.. senior home internationals, aiming for top 3 on the individual.. will most likely be disappointed.. then going out on monday ;D havent been out in a fair while - im missing it... anyway.. washing is in the dryer waiting to be collected and i still havent done those essays... xxxx Just clocked your location - you must be using the Wales National Pool. Is that related to the one in London that TTers meet up at? If so, keep away from the Chocolate Vodka. It has sent top TT Ironmen into the gutter. Good luck with your race, Run Strong, Paul.

Ahh.....you make me miss it - different set of pubs these days though (when I were a student back in the day Wind street didnt have pubs on it and the pool was a mere 25m) I was back in Swansea the other week though - and it was still raining - nice to see some things havent changed.

blog 3well, best blog '06 - ;D anyway.. the weekend didnt go quite to plan relay on saturday.. took me 13 mins to find number one so was way down straight away... got back up to a good speed... ..and then fell off a cliff.. ok, so it was only a big rock really... but i cant walk, let alone run, my knee's purple.. it meant a long time in a&e to get stitches and its still bleeding over 24 hours later.. so obv i couldnt run today, which was disappointing and it now feels somewhat like a wasted weekend, but still.. im sure i'll live and i have a good excuse for a whole extra week of absolutely no training and i still have essays..and a care package from mummy, with more fruit in it than i think i've eaten in the whole time i've been at uni!! ;D anyway, only a short blog.. my tea's nearly ready.. xxx

The food parcels from the parents! An essential part of uni life. ;D
My main food group as a student was toast with crab paste spread. I also bought some Tesco "burgers" that were mostly pork rind and "mechanically reclaimed chicken" (I kid you not). My mum made me promise not to buy any more, when she found out.
Stay healthy, and get well soon!
