I thought both were good. Pasta party had plenty to eat and the atmos was great, if you buy into all that IronMan cheese (and I do) Again the rolldown was exciting, seeing people achieving their dream and having it properly hammed up to make it emotional... I loved it! Oh yes, and the race was ok as well ;-)

I'm not doing the pasta party, mostly because it's unknown food two days before the race and I like to stick to bland and dull at that stage. I'll go to the roll down just because I've not done that bit before.

Lasts about 90 minutes IIRC. Was loads of food left over this year. Will be good if there are a few of us there on a table. Could pay on the day this year, although I think they'd prefer some advance notice / payment.

seriously guys you think drinking is a good idea right after an IM race? all i want to do is sleep. my vote would be a TT pasta party on the friday night round my tent or maybe in the TT tented village? or a BBQ on the monday evening. entered the race, still waiting confirmation. may do teh roll down?

There was a fair amount of pasta on the hob the night before in TT Tent City.
The pasta party was okay for food - better than the year before by all accounts - but I ducked out early because the smarm was getting to me. For me it's a race - not a group hug. I can understand other people liking the emotional part of it but it makes me very uncomfortable.
Afterwards I showered and headed straight back to the finish line for a death burger, chips and the fattest Coke available. After the last finisher we walked back to the tents - I had two sips of a beer and couldn't keep my eyes open.
By Monday most folks are gone or on their way home - the answer is to finish in daylight, or change the barbeque idea into a massive fry-up on Monday morning before the rolldown.

Personally I like to take it easy fri and sat before the ironman, save my energy. made mistake of gettign drunk thurs before imuk 05. luckily i managed to sleep through most of fri and sat and raced ok. after race i like to down whatever i can get my hands on. best time to put a bit of weight on and mentally get it out of the way.....before returning to a decent diet on mon or tues or wed...

I'm well up for getting smashed at the end of IMUK. Sunday at 4pm is good for me
Was a much better race this year although the Roll Down will never be as good as the scantily clad ladies at Austria, it was not bad and they tried hard to make it a good celebration.
I missed the pasta party in favour of guiness and good food elsewhere.
