it amazes me how some people dont even know how to plug a pc together when they work in IT

They DO know how to plug it together, they just don't want to do any work.....I should know, I feign ignorance all the time (and I work in IT)

Judging by our IT contractors, I don't think they even know what a PC is, let alone plug it together....

Our last fire alarm was due to a potato on fire in a microwave.
Seriously, do you know how long that would take? And these are scientists, apparently.

Luckily the machine has a cut off - it was well burnt though! Oh, and I work in IT - not that that has a bearing on being able to use kitchen appliances!  |

Our last one was when the people fitting pipes for a new aircon system blowtorched the smoke detector. Bit of a PITA when that means 25 flights of stairs down and then back up. Takes over half an hour to evacuate.
Oh, and as a kid I slightly charred a steak and kidney pie. We had a combination microwave oven. Instead of cooking for 25 minutes at 190 degrees, then it preheated to 190, then microwaved at 800watts the lump of coal in a foil tray for 21 minutes until I smelt the smoke.

One of my tenants regulary ( 6 times in two months) used to set off the fire alarm in an office block of about 200 people by burning her toast !!! Que 4 fire engins and lots of angry people.
It took a very threaterning solicitor letter to get her to stop
